Our Cows

Paşaköy on a brilliant November day

While we were in Assos for the bayram about two weeks ago, we made sure we checked out our growing herd of cattle! Yes, this is our new project: acquiring cows in order to sell their milk to newly established local dairy cooperatives. We are very excited about it and have every expectation that it will be successful. Our handyman Mehmet is in charge of operations. The nine cows graze in his father’s lush field  which has a stream running through it, and as you can see, it is idyllic. You enter via that gate on the right.  It lies below their village of Paşaköy which has a dramatic position overlooking the Aegean, and so it too has a sea view in the distance.  Seems to me that the cows are very  lucky. I want to picnic in this field.

here they are!
Mehmet's small son was allowed to name the first cow and that was Muharrem. Then along came the second two and lo and behold, they were christened Pelin and Ayşe, the names of our two daughters!
